The stores have had their holiday decorations up for the past month and Starbucks has been shlepping their famous red cups. Carols are playing everywhere and the weather is getting colder.
Heck. It actually snowed last night!
It’s really beginning to look at lot like Christmas right?
But despite all this holly-jollyness I am just not feeling it.
I don’t mean to sound like a grinch or anything because I really love the holidays but for some reason this year I having a really tough time getting into the holiday spirit. Maybe it was the late start to the school year, or maybe it was because of the amazing weather we had right until Thanksgiving (the Canadian one) but I am still in full denial that the big day is only 26 days away.
So in an attempt to feel a little more holly jolly we are breaking our strict “no decorations until December” rule and hauling out the Christmas boxes from storage this weekend. We are also off to the Burnaby Heritage museum to see the beautiful lights, visit Saint Nick and watch our neighbor perform in a holiday play.
And if anyone can get me in the “mood” this weekend its my beloved Jim Cuddy (Blue Rodeo) and their new Christmas album “A Merrie Christmas To You”, that and a nice steaming mug of Baileys and Hot Chocolate and I should be good to go (with Christmas! Actually wait, with Jim too) 🙂
