As you all well know by now I love my sweet white wines.
I will dally into a slightly drier wine when desperate, and slightly oaky wine when absolutely desperate, but generally I like what I like.
I have tended to poo-poo Sauvignon Blancs as I find them too dry generally speaking. That is until my lovely friend introduced me to Cono Sur Organically Grown Sauvignon Blanc. I was over at her house before Christmas and had guzzled down a delicious glass thinking the whole time it was one of my under 15 dollar faves – Cono Sur Bicicleta Viogner, but alas – it was the Organic Sav Blanc!
Apparently, those brilliant Chileans are up there with the French and New Zealanders for growing superior Sauvignon Blanc grapes. The Chilean grapes are a tad sweeter and more citrusey than those grown elsewhere hence a slightly less dry and more citrusy Sav Blanc.
So the verdict is in and I am adding this one to my regular wine rotation and lucky for me there are still a few holiday drinking days left!
