The importance of girls weekends

January 30, 2015

This week was all about feeding my soul. Figuratively and literally.

I spent an all-too-short 1.5 days in Kelowna “working”, visiting with dear old friends and some amazing new ones and eating and drinking very very well. Nachos! Ciders! Spirits! Belly Laughs! Sun! Figurative and literal soul filling indeed.

Good conversation, good nachos and a trip to the Wild Kingdom made for 4 happy girls!

And there was today.

Today was one of those brilliant gems of a day sunny and warm (14 degrees in the Valley) and just beckoning me to come outside and play. Poor Joey hadn’t seen any action in weeks and despite my full inbox and looming to-do list, I decided to play hooky. I met my friend Mega Dob and we did a lunch hour loop on some new trails at SFU (at least new to me). We chatted, I panted and sweated and basked in the glorious sunshine. My legs are aching and my lungs are still burning but it was exactly what I needed.

And then there’s tonight. Heading to a PLAYshop facilitated by my dear friend Tanis Frame (highly recommend her mamasessions and PLAYshops) and then late drinks and shenanigans with some mama friends at the local watering hole. By the end of tonight my soul will be full indeed (and my belly and liver too!)
