I have struggled on and off with insomnia for the past few years, and like most moms, have also struggled with I-will-never-sleep-straight-through-the-night-ever-again-despite-my-kids-being-in-grade-school-cause-they-both-wake-me-up-at-least-two-times-per-night. Sigh.
Last night was a sleepless one. But I decided to make the most of it instead of just aimlessly thrashing around in bed getting more and more frustrated. Here are a few tips for making the most of your sleepless nights.
a) Binge watch Netflix! I know the last thing you should do is stimulate your brain even more when already restless, but think of all the hours you have to catch up on your fave series!
b) Build a new website! Last night I basically re-built 80% of my new business website mspixel.ca – it still needs a little TLC so won’t be live for a few more days, but dang did I kick some WordPress butt!
c) Re-organize your closet! You’d be amazed on how the adrenalin and frustration of not sleeping can help you be ruthless with your closet re-org. I did an awesome purge of tons of old clothes last night, packed up the winter gear and found a new home for all my summer stuff!
d) Scrounge Pinterest! I am a little late to the Pinterest game like many things but I tell you I could get lost in there for a good 5 hours straight. So many new recipes pinned (that likely will never be cooked), makeup tips and tricks and cute new hairstyles to try!
e) Cook! Not the nest idea for the waistline due to late night snacking temptation, but I actually find sleepless nights a good time to do a little baking – And now there are fresh lemon poppyseed muffins in the morning!
And here’s a little tip. I recently discovered Adult Essentials “Adult Night-Time Sleep Aid” (melatonin) which is deliciously produced in gummy form so it’s easy to keep by your bed. No need for trying to gag down horse pills!
