The best self tanner for pale skin

Screen Shot 2014-07-09 at 4.26.12 PMWith the exception of my teens and twenties, I have not been much of a tanner. Loooooonnnnnggg gone are the days of sitting out in the sun with a bottle of baby oil and a gaggle of girlfriends for hours at a time. And even back then, I was never the one to get really tan, I mean I am Irish/Ukrainian after all.

And then something started to happen in my 30s, not only did I purposefully avoid the sun, but it seemed as though my body was rejecting the whole idea of tanning in general. I am not sure what the exact medical term is for it, but basically an ever increasing percentage of my skin just doesn’t hold pigment, like at all. I have numerous spots all over my arms and legs that just don’t tan, like ever.

But a girl still wants to get her glow on no so I have tried various self tanning products over the years so help acheive that perfect sun-kissed look without all the damage.

Then I tried some self tanning “instant color” products – these actually have caramel in them to give your skin an instant shot of color while the self tanner kicks in. Not bad in all, but I still felt like I looked a little more like an Oompa Loompa than a bronzed goddess if you know what I mean….

Finally, I took the plunge and spend a little more quid on a bottle of St Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Lotion. One of the big selling points for me is the lack of disgusting self-tanner smell and the fact that the color makes you actually look, well, tan as opposed to, well, orange. So, if you are looking for a great product that will give you a nice sun kissed glow without the Oompa Loompa look then take the plunge and give this a try!
