Every year on April 8th until I turned 21 my dad would hand select a lovely bday card and write an equally lovely (or sometimes blunt if needed) message or piece of advice about the certain stage of life I was in. Today, his message was short and sweet and concluded with this little gem…..
“If you want something to ponder, you’re now half way through your life if you are statistically average.”
Well happy half my life to me!
In all seriousness though, I have learned a lot in these past 42 years. I have learned what and who is important and what and who are not. I fill my days doing what I want to do and not what I have to do, and spend my free time with the people who matter most. It’s taken a while to have to courage to say NO – and not just 20x per day to my kids. But to clients, to unhealthy habits and to things I just dont’ want to do.
I love wine, and drink it when I want to. I love to eat, and do so with abandon despite those extra few pounds. Who cares anyways, my life is half over right? <grin>
