Well, it’s Black Friday, and that means that the holiday season is officially in full swing. I can now almost handle the fact that Christmas is only one month away, that carols are playing in every store, and half my street has their holiday lights and decorations up already. Ba-humbug.
Normally I don’t talk about ANYTHING to do with the holidays until Dec 1st at a minimum, but over the past few weeks I have been indulging in holiday eating and drinking a wee bit early and this inspired my round up of fave holiday libations.
I mean, I don’t want to tire of rum & cokes or white wine before the big day do I?
So, I asked some of my fave peeps on the Interwebz for their fave holiday cocktails or recipes and lookee what i got back! Yum! I hope their holiday libation recipes inspire some ho-ho-ho-holiday fun at your upcoming shin-dig!
First up. One of my besties over at 3 Chickens and Boat seems to be able to do miraculous things with the fruits in her orchard. Find out how she turned her bounty of summer plums into a DELICIOUS Plum liquer that I plan to drink mucho of the next time I visit.
Second. Lets head across the country to my friend Maureen at the Red Cottage Chronicles. Maureen shares one of my year round faves – the Kir Royale – on her blog. Sparkly and delicious indeed. I make my Kir Royales more Christmas-y by adding Okanagan Spirits Cranberry Liqeur!
Third. The amazing Carin Harris at Eclectic Soapbox shares her homemade Irish Cream recipe over on her blog and it does not disappoint! I am hoping to be invited to future bulk booze making parties at her house!
And last but not least, this one was pulled out of my own archives thanks to my friends at Okanagan Spirits Distellery which mixes a little bit of Danish holiday tradition (Aquavit) with a more modern, holiday color appropriate, and palatable mixer – the The Aquavitus Caeser!
What are some of your favorite holiday libations? Inquiring minds and palates want to know!
