It’s confession time y’all.
I am NOT a perfect mother.
Shocking I know! And yes, believe it or not (and contrary to what social media might show) I have many many domestic shortcomings – cleaning, laundry, getting the kids to school on time – the worst of which though is my utter lack of culinary skills, or if I am being completely honest, my lack of passion for cooking?
So, when it comes to the inevitable 6x per week when dinner rolls around (friday’s are for eating out right?!), a sense of foreboding falls over me – what to make? who won’t like what? who is going to complain the loudest? what’s in the pantry? Gah!
So, let me ask you this my friends…..how do you introduce the love of cooking to your kids when you are not feeling the love in general?
All I can offer for now is this: a) Make cooking fun (even if it gets messy) b) Keep it simple c) Always use peanut butter
So, I put these three tips into place a few weeks back and I enlisted my boys help to make these No Bake Coconut Protein Peanut Butter Snack Bites and the ONLY way I could convince them to even step in the kitchen was when I mentioned that both peanut butter AND chocolate were going to be involved (and that they could continue to play Mine Craft afterwards).
In the end, despite my apprehension, we had a great time and the boys loved the final product too! The lack of baking made it super simple even for my 6 year old, and since both boys only have about an 8 minute attention span the easy prep and execution made everything go quickly and the boys were off to play Mine Craft before they knew it. We can’t wait to try out all the fabulous Peanut Butter Snack Bite recipes we found on the KRAFT Canada website, but this one in particular caught our eye. Peanut Butter Snack Bites With Sprinkles!
