Wow! It’s been a long while since I posted on Wine Wednesday. It’s certainly not because I have been on the wagon (insert hearty laughter here) but simply because I am very much a creature of habit when it comes to my wine and I tend to drink the same ones over and over and over and over and over and over (you get it right?) and thus I have no new wines to talk about.
But then this happened…
Last week I was at ROAM – an innovative social media conference here in YVR – and like it’s been almost every day for the past few months it was perfectly warm and sunny outside. We had a great morning learning all about SnapChat and Instagram (and apparently how I don’t use either well), a fan-tab-u-lous lunch on the patio at the Art Gallery and then we took a short siesta before the afternoon activities began.
During our siesta, a new blogging buddy of mine offered me a beer. I tried my best to not give her my worst stank face cause this girl doesn’t know me that well yet to know that I just don’t like beer. Full stop. Ok maybe with one exception and that’s an icy cold Corona or dos whilst on vacay in tropical climes. But otherwise no. Yuckity, yuck, yuck.
But she so graciously encouraged me to give it a try, I just might like it…. it was a Rickard’s Radler.
I opened the bottle skeptically and took a sip. And OH EM GEE it was delicious! Basically think icy cold grapefruit juice meeting a light ale in the perfect combination of not too sweet and not to beer-y tasting. YUM!
The only downside of the Rickard’s Radler was the alcohol percentage which clocked in at a measly 3.2% – boo! It would have taken me the entire six pack to get a good buzz on but that was probably a good thing since we had an afternoon of volunteering ahead of us.
So big wet smooches to my new buddy Joan over at MADDWorld who introduced me to Rickard’s Radler. I have already bought a six pack or two to enjoy at home on my own sunny patio and won’t be so quick to give the stanky eye to anyone who offers me beer in the future.
