Two simple ways to maximize your workout results in less time!

May 25, 2017

I don’t know about you, but my days are busy. There’s my business to run, blogs to write (oops, hasn’t happened much lately), kids to shuttle to & from school and their various activities, not to mention cooking, cleaning, grocery shopping, errand running etc etc. Yah I know all you moms out there, i’m preaching to the choir right?!

Anyways, one thing I always try to find time for these days is exercise. Not only are there obvious physical benefits (and the way I burn off all the wine & chocolate), but stress relieving ones too. Finding the time to get in a good workout can be challenging these days so when I do have time, I want maximum bang for my buck so here are two ways I have been able to maximize my workout results in the least amount of time possible!

HIIT it baby!

Last fall I started doing more HIIT workouts (high intensity interval training) – these involve shorter bursts of work, with rest intervals. HIIT is a great way to burn fat while preserving hard-earned muscle mass, and those who do HIIT tend to burn more calories per day than those who do steady state cardio! I mean, who wants to spend hours on a treadmill when you can HIIT it hard and be done in 20 minutes?!

It’s easy to HIIT it at home too! I absolutely love the FREE fitness website called – the husband/wife team of Kelly & Dan are motivating and down to earth and best of all their workouts are absolutely FREE!

Sweatflix was recommended to me by a friend and it’s a  paid fitness app on iTunes which I am finding requires a little more gear, but is a great way to switch things up and challenge myself.

Lastly if you go to YouTube there are tons of HIIT workouts to choose from, just make sure no matter what you choose, you start slow and be mindful of your body, especially if you are post natal!

Don’t weight to challenge yourself!

So after doing HIIT for the past 6 months I felt like it was time to challenge myself even further. So last month I asked for a weighted vest that I saw on the Sweatflix/Bodyrock website for my birthday and it’s been great! It ups the intensity of my workout by a big factor even though my vest is only 6lbs. Adding this vest has helped me break through my fitness plateau and challenge myself even further! The only downside is the vest gets really sweaty & a bit stinky fast but ah well!

So there you have it, two simple ways to fit in exercise every day in the least amount of time possible. Decide to make yourself a priority and make it happen!
