When things in life get really busy or stressful or rough the first thing that goes out the door is my sense of style (if you can even call it that lol) both with clothes and my hair. I have an insanely stylish friend who has more creativity in the tip of her pinkie than I could ever hope to have… like ever… and I try my best to have some of her stylishness rub off on me but thus far I am #failing.
So, the last few months have been a trusty 4 day rotation of TNA leggings (I have 4 colors) and TNA hoodies (same, same – 4 colors) with my trusty black New Balance sneaks and now that the weather is cold, my hair issues have been solved somewhat by wearing good old toques again (aka beanies for my American friends). I also did a MASSIVE closest purge in the past few months as well so even if I did happen to get inspired to get dressed in something other than trackies, there really isn’t much to chose from….
But lately I have been inspired to up my lack of style game from the unlikeliest of sources. I came upon this quirky little comedy series out of Australia called “Offspring” on Netflix Canada few weeks back and within a few episodes I was hooked (there are 5 seasons currently). The main character – Nina Proudman – is a quirky, neurotic Obstetrician with a mildly bohemian casual sense of style. Perfect for that mellow Melbourne weather I suppose.
Nina from Offspring is all about the light layering which is such a must for me and my lack of temperature regulation. A cami or tank, under a loose bohemian inspired cardi or blouse paired with jeans and boots, or ankle boots. And always the scarf and long necklace. Patterns and colors mixed up in an easy breezy way that works and gives off a cool 70’s vibe. So simple, yet so chic!
So, I am so happy I stumbled across this little gem on Netflix Canada but am sad that I have already binged my way through 4 of the 5 seasons of Offspring available, and I am grateful to Nina Proudman for inspiring this mama to up her style game in the near future!
