So, last week this happened..
And it reconfirmed for me two things. One that I was super glad it was only a ten dollar bottle or I would have been lapping the wine up off the driveway and two that I need to start buying wine in the box more often.
I mean, drop a box, and it gets a dent. But the precious liquid gold inside stays intact. And the wine tends to stay better for a longer period of time as the lack of oxygen within the bag slows the oxidization process which turns wine “off”.
And from an economical perspective, they say that “three liters of wine is about the same as four bottles of wine, and five liters is about the same as 6.7 bottles” and you pay less for the box so you are getting better value for your money. YAY!
And, they also say that boxed wine is more environmentally friendly than bottles – the cardboard box is recyclable, and “research indicates that the entire bag-in-a-box packaging system contributes less to global-warming potential and uses less water and energy than glass wine bottles do. Boxes are also thought to have a smaller carbon footprint than glass bottles, since they are lighter and easier to transport.” (quote from Real Simple)
So, after learning my lesson I decided to head out a buy a coupla boxes of wine for my trip to the Sunshine Coast. I selected the Naked Grape Unoaked Pinot Grigio and I decided to try the Copper Moon Pinot Grigio as well.
So each night after getting home to our amazing beach house we hydrate with a glass of delicious Copper Moon Pinto Grigio. Boxed wine also comes with a very handy handle which makes carrying it down to the beach for happy hour super easy! And again, no worries about it falling on the rocks and breaking 🙂
